Microsoft announces affordable Windows 10 laptops for schools priced at $189 onwards, in a bid to take on Google's Chromebooks

In a bid to direct attention towards Windows 10 OS, Microsoft is revealing two Windows devices which will cost as low as $ 189.[caption id="attachment_4315725" align="alignleft" width="380"] Lenovo 100e. Microsoft[/caption]According to The Verge, these two Windows laptops were revealed at the annual Bett education in London. These are educational devices which are meant for students and teachers. To give a push to the education content, Microsoft has also partnered with BBC, LEGO, NASA, PBS and Pearson. These laptops will also support mixed reality and videos which will help with the curriculum.Packed with Intel's Celeron Apollo Lake chips, these low-cost netbooks are designed for educational purposes.Lenovo has introduced two laptops — the Lenovo 100e which is priced at $189 and the Lenovo 300e which is a 2-in-1 laptop which comes for $279. The Lenovo 300e supports pencil touch response as well.Other than Lenovo, a Portuguese company called JP will introduce a Windows Hello laptop priced at $199 and a touch-enabled laptop with support for a stylus priced at $299.These educational laptops will include content which can be useful for teachers as well.The aim is, reportedly, to increase Microsoft's sale in the educational sector which has been taken over by Google's Chromebooks.According to a previous report, the popularity of Chromebooks in the educational sector was a strategy by Google to prepare the next generation of laptop users with Chromebooks instead of other brands. This seems to have created a competition amongst laptop companies.
