Micro alone is leading the race against Uber in India: Ola

The new wave of radio cab services and app-centric taxi services have resulted in a fierce battle that is welcomed by consumers in India. After tapping into autorickshaws and bringing them into the fold, taxi service Ola had recently also introduced Ola Auto service in several cities in India.Among the latest product by Ola is Ola Micro, which offers smaller hatchback AC cars such as Hyundai ion, Datsun Go and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R as taxis with a base price of Rs 6 per kilometer. According to Ola, this service is now growing at a rapid pace.Talking to Tech2, Raghuvesh Sarup, chief marketing officer and head of categories at Ola said, "In three weeks, we have put up a category (Ola Micro) which is already 50 per cent of all of Uber's daily bookings in the country. The rate at which Micro is growing, it will be larger than their entire brand within a month."Ola claims it holds 75 per cent of the Indian app-based taxi-hailing market, with over 350,000 driver partners on its platform across the country.The demand for service has been growing at a pace far greater than the company's anticipation. Sarup estimates that with just the Micro service, Ola is already seeing about half the daily bookings by rival Uber. If rate of growth is considered, then Ola Micro could surpass the daily bookings by Uber in about a month's time.
