Lenovo expected to shutdown Zuk hardware business

Lenovo owned smartphone maker Zuk is rumored to be shutting down its hardware business. Just a few months back Lenovo had announced that it would integrate the Moto brand under one branding. But it seems instead of killing the Motorola branding, it is going to axe the Zuk.The news comes from a Weibo user who said that there will be no Zuk Z3 smartphone in the future. An analyst by the name of Pan Jiutang replied and confirmed that the Zuk hardware business was going to shutdown. Jiutang mentioned that the company was successful and even managed to gather a large fan-base during its short period as a phone manufacturer.Of course, this is not official as there has been no official statement from Zuk or Lenovo. Zuk Mobile began operations in May 2015 and launched four smartphones, the Zuk Z1, Zuk Z2, Zuk Z2 Pro, and the Zuk Edge.While we did see some leaked images of a Zuk Edge II Special Edition, it was never announced in the market.According to another Weibo post by @Zheng Jun, Zuk co-founder Chen Xudong will go back to Lenovo’s PC business arm while Qiao Jian will be the new head of Lenovo Mobile China and Kirk B Skaugen will remain head of Lenovo’s data center operations.
