Leaked video shows Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android L

Soon after reports that Android L was expected to come in the first week of November, we have received a first look at what the next Android iteration will look like. Sammobile, known for releasing accurate information about unreleased Samsung phones, has offered a glimpse at how Samsung may possibly customise the new Material Design for its Galaxy S5.

The news site has got its hands on the early version of Android L – LRW58J. It is a test build for the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F). Though Sammobile wanted to make the firmware available for every Samsung fanatic,  they feel  after testing, that it is not suitable for every day use yet. The build is still sluggish and buggy.

Clearly, Samsung hasn't given up on its TouchWiz UI, and the video clearly shows it. However, there are several similarities between Google's Android L and what Samsung's device is running.

GSMArena points out, "If you were hoping that Samsung would give up on its TouchWiz UI overlay entirely, well, you were wrong. Samsung's Android L doesn't look like Google's Android L - not entirely. There are many similarities, though, and it's nice to see Samsung finally change some design bits that have been left pretty much unaltered for years."

While Samsung's built-in apps have been designed to follow the Material Design guidelines, the Settings menu is now white and not blue. Samsung's lock screen shows only two notifications, compared to four seen in the stock Android OS. Samsung has also built a clipboard tool for history of screenshots and copied text, a feature usually available in custom ROMs.

With the increasing number of rumours and leaks, we are assured that the Android L release is not far away.
