Kindle Fire HD, Paperwhite ebook reader available in India from today

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD tablets, the Paperwhite ebook reader and the Kindle eReader will be available in Indian stores from today.

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD tablets, the Paperwhite ebook reader and the Kindle eReader will be available in Indian stores from today. The devices will be available in stores such as Croma, Reliance Digital, E-Zone and Vijay Sales in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune.

The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD will cost Rs 15,999 while the larger 8.9 inch tablet is priced at Rs 21,999. Users can also buy the tablet from Amazon.in.

"Not only does Kindle Fire feature advanced hardware, it's also a service. The combination of the leading apps, the largest book selection, great email and browsing and top rated customer service, we hope our customers in India will agree that Kindle Fire HD is the best tablet for a great price," Amazon Kindle vice-president Dave Limp said in the media release.

Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite 3G and non-3G versions are also up for sale The non-3G version is Rs 10,999, while the 3G version is priced at Rs 13,999. Amazon regular Kindle device is currently available online for Rs 5,999.

The Kindle Fire HD has a1280800 HD display,1.3 megapixel front camera, adual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 11 hours of battery life and16GB internal memory (approximately 12.6GB available for user content) or 32GB internal memory (approximately 26.9GB available for user content).

The Kindle Fire HD runs Android 4.0 but doesn't have access to Google Play Store and has access to Amazon's App Store.
