The high levels of risk involved in this mission stemmed from the fact that it was practically impossible for the workers at the site to enter the reactor. The reason, obviously being the high level of radioactive leakage that took place after the ravaging earthquake and Tsunami hit the region.
Unpleasant, but true!
Now, even as life is slowly reeling back to normalcy in Japan, a major breakthrough has taken place. The iRobots have emerged with a video of the inside of the nuclear reactor. The close-up video and photos just go on to reveal the extent of destruction inside the nuclear reactor. In addition to the iRobots, Tokyo Power Electric Co. (TEPCO) has employed the use of T-Hawk – a robotic aerial vehicle that’s remote-controlled. The T-Hawk can hover around in close proximity to the devastation site and hence is being used to gain credible inputs.
The images show the extreme damage that the constant hydrogen explosions have been causing.
