Instagram videos now available on Ice Cream Sandwich devices

Instagram has released its first major update  since it got video capabilities a little over a month ago. The update that bumps Instagram to version 4.1 brings video support for Android Ice Cream Sandwich users, and video import amongst other tweaks for both the iOS and Android version of the app. The ability to shoot and upload videos on older versions of Android had been the Instagram community’s number-one request, revealed the company. The feature will be much appreciated since even while Jelly Bean captures 40 percent of the Android market share, ICS still runs on about 22 percent of all Android phones across the world.

Import videos from library and straighten images on iOS

Instagram has also added yet another much-requested feature to its apps, the ability to import videos from the library. Instead of using Instagram’s camera to shoot videos in the moment, you can now simply import a video shot earlier using your camera onto Instagram and share it. While importing you can choose to trim the video down to exactly the portion you want to share. Then you can add filters to it and upload it onto your Instagram profiles. You will no longer require to whip out the Instagram app during special occasions to shoot clips lasting only for a few seconds. You can shoot with your phone’s camera app for as long as you want and then Instagram the best portions.

The update is bringing some added features for Instagram for iOS users. Using a “brand new technology,” Instagram for iOS will be able to straighten slightly crooked images when you hit on the Straighten icon. The tool will have a slider so that you can choose exactly how much you’d like to straighten an image.
