Don’t Panic! Not just because it’s Towel Day, but also because your Instagramming self can breathe a sigh of relief. Instagram is not deleting your profiles – the “deletion” of accounts was only caused because of a temporary glitch, the company has said.

The photo-sharing app makers admitted on Twitter that the issue was under control and the app was back on track following a hiccup that lead to some users finding themselves locked out of their Instagram profiles. “Yesterday we experienced technical issues that caused people to be unable to access their accounts for a short period of time,” the company wrote in a blog. “We restored access as soon as the issue was brought to our attention, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.”Your accounts are back

A small percentage of users were unable to access their Instagram profiles yesterday, leading to widespread outrage on Twitter. While the patterns were erratic, many users reported using images that were not clicked with the app’s built-in camera that caused this problem. While attempting to login, affected users were greeted with the message, “Your account has been disabled due to terms of service violations.”

Another school of speculators presumed that the Facebook-owned service was freeing up space on its servers by punishing those who “violated” its Terms of Service. Of course, we don’t need to tell you that the speculation was far from the truth. With the backing of the world’s largest social networking website, Instagram would hardly need to resort to such tactics to make space on its servers.

To make matters worse, Instagram was filled with fake images apparently from the Instagram staff, asking users to repost them. “Instagram is currently having technical difficulties so your account may get deleted,” reads an image. “In order to not get deleted, repost this picture and tag @dontdeletemyig. Thank you for your patience – Instagram Staff.”

So guys, you can go back to clicking photos of what you had for lunch now. Instagram is working just fine.
