Minister of State for IT, Communications and Shipping, Milind Deora is participating in a Hangout where he discusses the future of IT and Communications. The dialogue is bound to be interesting given the many controversies surrounding freedom of speech and the attempts at censorship of content found on the Internet.

The session will be moderated by well-known TV anchor Cyrus Broacha. As per the official Google blog post, the Minister will answer questions on a wide range of topics: from tower radiation to content on the Internet and from rural poverty to electoral funding.Previously, we’ve seen Hangouts sessions with Shashi Tharoor about education in the country, with Finance Minister P. Chidambaram regarding this year’s budget session and even with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Dr. C.P. Joshi, for suggestions regarding safer highways. These civic engagement sessions have been used recently for participative policy making, displaying the kind of power the Internet has over democracy in India.
