Fruit Ninja, other Halfbrick titles downloadable for free for a limited time

Halfbrick Studios is ringing in the festive season with a 24 hour sale on all their titles where the gaming company is giving all their titles away for free on the iOS App Store.

All their titles including the much loved Fruit Ninja series and Jetpack Joyride will be free for download till 1 AM EST (11:30 AM IST) Tuesday, December 18. This deal will include HD iPad games too.

“Over the past three years we’ve given everything we have to make our games the best, and were rewarded a million times over with love and support from our fans. Now it’s time to give something back." said Halfbrick's Chief Marketing Officer Phil Larsen about the Holiday giveaway.

Fruit Ninja for iOS free for a limited period

Halfbrick’s titles such as Fruit Ninja, Monster Dash and Age of Zombies are well known and are some of the most commonly downloaded titles on both iOS and Android Platforms. On Android alone, the free version of Fruit Ninja has been downloaded between 50,000,000 and 100,000,000 times.

The sale notably is available only for Apple devices and not Android. Larsen says it is because Android versions of these games are already available free without ad support. He also notes that, "The Android version is currently out of date, and our dev team is currently working on it to update and ensure the latest version is live around the world. We don't want Android users excited about a promo for an outdated version, we want them to have the best."

Festive game sales always take the excitement one notch higher amongst fans. Both Gameloft and Steam had massive sales in November that were very well received. Mobile game developer Gameloft had announced that some of its games were available on sale in celebration of Thanksgiving. These iOS and Android games included The Amazing Spider-Man, Gangstar Rio: City of Saints, BackStab, The Adventures of Tintin: The Game, Tom Clancy's Rainbox Six: Shadow Vanguard, and N.O.V.A. 3: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance.

Steam too had kicked off its new sale, dubbed the Autumn Sale. The sale drastically lowered the price of some of the biggest games of the year, including Darksiders II and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The Autumn Sale also has flash deals, which are small deals that last for shorter times than full blown day-deals. On one of the days the flash sales include Intrusion 2 costing $3.39 instead of $9.99, The Amazing Spider-Man costing $24.99 instead of $49.99, Dear Esther costing $2.49 instead of $9.99, Two Worlds II costing $7.49 instead of $29.99, and Dungeon Defenders costing $3.74 instead of $14.99.

Back in October, Steam had kicked off its Halloween sale. The Halloween sale mostly included games in the horror genre, or games with some or the other morbid elements. Some of the biggest games that were up for sale included The Darkness II for $12.49 instead of $49.99, Dead Rising 2 for $7.49 instead of $29.99, and The Walking Dead for $14.99 instead of $24.99. Other games in the sale include Alan Wake, Lone Survivor, and BioShock 2.
