Creo Mark 1 Android phone promises features you've never seen before; monthly software updates
We reached out to Creo asking them about the new device. Yes, it is going to all about software as the company claims to offer a 'unique' OS experience with software updates that will be rolled out each month.
Earlier this year, there were reports around how Creo (rebranded Mango Man Consumer Electronic aka Teewee makers), a Bengaluru-based startup, plans to develop its own Android-based OS and also mulling to launch a phone. Well, the company is out with its first teaser. The video teases a smartphone that looks quite classy with a catchy tagline. Now, a tagline that reads ‘new phone every month'is a big promise to keep up and has got everyone intrigued. We reached out to Creo asking them about the new device. Yes, it is going to all about software as the company claims to offer a 'unique' OS experience with software updates that will be rolled out each month."Unfortunately, most Android phones have pretty much the same features, except for the difference in skins and colors. That is what we want to change. We want to put features out every month that improve the user’s experience and offer powerful functionality to the user. With respect to features, we will be improving on and building app discovery, security, and calling features, amongst many others," Vartika Verma, CMO at Creo tells us.There have been several reports on how phone companies including startups like Xiaomi and OnePlus have been struggling to impress investors. It is no more just the battle of specs, and software is believed to give a better chance at revenue generation. This is the reason why companies like LeEco have entered the Indian market focussing on content."The current crop of players from India and China are locked in a viscious hardware spec-war which is neither profitable for the manufacturer nor compelling for the end-user in the long run. While Mark 1 will launch with top-end specs, our key differentiators are in our OS, and the experiences we are offering via deep Android OS level features, unheard of on any Android phone, Indian or Chinese," Verma adds. The device will run the company's own OS that is build on Android 5.1.1, but come with the latest features. The company will later upgrade to the latest versions of Android too. She adds that each month the consumers will be given something new, some of the features built will be 'out of this world' and not seen in any other Android device. Now the question is when will the device become a reality. Looks like, very soon. "We’re aiming for a launch in the first half of the year," Verma adds.
