Chrome Web Store gets Group Publishing

To simplify the task of managing multiple people accessing an organisation’s CWS account, Google has now introduced Group Publishing to the Chrome Web Store.

Until now, it was possible to associate only one e-mail address with the publisher’s account on the Chrome Web Store, making it tough to give access to more than one person to manage the inventory. With Group Publishing now, an organisation can create a Google Group and assign it as the account owner. It can then add or remove people from the Group as and when required.

With Group Publishing, Google now aims to make it simpler for organisations to manage these multiple tasks.

On the developer dashboard page, one can click the link to either associate an existing group as the Group Publisher, or create a new one. Once they’ve been granted access, members can add, edit, and work with the store items, and other necessary aspects.

Wei Zheng, Software Engineer and Google Group Maestro elaborates, "With the new Group Publishing capability, an organization’s engineering, marketing and product management teams can now collaborate much more effectively to better manage their Chrome Web Store presence."

This is clearly among the more significant introductions to the Chrome Web Store, which is home to several apps, extensions, and themes.

The Chrome Web Store got a new search UI earlier this year. If you're on the store looking for something, you will be able to see the top search results across Apps, Extensions and Themes, all in one page. Users can further limit the search to a single category by either picking one of the options on the selector option at the top or by clicking on the category heading at the top of each set of the search results.
