Barnes & Noble 'Nook GlowLight Plus' ebook reader launched

Barnes & Noble has introduced a new Nook GlowLight Plus which features an improved screen display along with a waterproof body. The device is available for purchase in several regions excluding India from the company's website.In terms of features, the device includes an e-ink display with a density of 300 dots per inch. It also sports an aluminium back and is also dust resistant. Thanks to its IP67 rating, it's water resistant up to depths of 3 feet for up to 30 minutes. The device weighs 6.9 ounces, which is lighter than the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.The 6-inch tablet offers 2.5GB inbuilt storage along with a six weeks worth of battery life on a single charge. In terms of connectivity, the tablet includes  Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity built-in, along with a a Micro-USB port.The last GlowLight was launched in 2013. Nook tablets haven't sold well amid intense competition with Apple's iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire and others. Unlike Kindles, which are tied to Amazon's bookstore, Nook devices are compatible with books bought at other stores that use the EPub standard, including Apple's iBookstore. Nook's future had come into question after Barnes & Noble said that it would stop making its own Nook color touch-screen tablets and would farm out manufacturing to a third-party.
