Apple Music removes ability for artists to post content on Connect social feed

Apple had first announced Connect back in 2015 when it launched Apple Music. Connect acted as a dedicated social feed.Now Apple has notified Apple Music artists that it is time to bid adieu to Connect as it is taking away the ability from Artists to post content to Apple Music Connect.As per the report in 9To5Google, Apple Music content has already been scratched out from the 'For You' section and 'Artist Pages.'Artists have started receiving includes, "Today we’re streamlining music discovery by removing Connect posts from Artist Pages and For You. This means you’ll no longer be able to post to Connect as of December 13, 2018, but all previously uploaded content will still be searchable until 24 May 2019. Representational image.[/caption]So the content on Connect can still be viewed through searching it on Apple Music, but the company will be deleting Connect posts submitted by artists from search in May 2019.Also, in a page where Apple has listed changes in the new 'Artists Pages', it mentions, "Connect posts from artists are no longer supported."The changes listed are that the Artist pages would be now better organised to make it easier for users to find the music that they're looking for and also it has added a 'Personalised Artist Radio' where every Apple Music artist now has their own radio station.Apple Music Connect allowed fans to directly reach the artists through the music app. There hasn’t been a lot of development in the content since its launch.This is mentioned as the reason in 9To5Google for Apple to remove Connect as a dedicated tab in the Music app. Now it has been shifted below music recommendations and personalised playlists in the For You section.Apple’s much-ignored social network Ping also saw the last of its days in 2012.
