Apple iOS 11 could bring Facetime group calling to make it more 'social'

Apple's once exclusive video calling service FaceTime is not exactly a thing today. Thanks to services from third-party apps, such services make little sense, especially when there is nothing special about it anymore. We could have said the same about iMessage, but things have changed since iOS and the Messages app is now a platform loaded with games, apps and stickers from a plethora of developers from Apple's app army. So is FaceTime officially dead? Not exactly, claims a new blog post, which hints at a makeover that will add a group calling feature with iOS 11.According to an unverified blog post, Apple will launch group video calling feature with the revamp of its Facetime app. A blog called The Verifier reports that Apple will be adding group video calling to make the service more social and that's about it.Currently, the FaceTime service only works with Apple devices which limits its user base. Apple in all probability could combine FaceTime with its iMessages app to make the package look more attractive and add some other interesting features like it did with iMessages on iOS 10.Apple could also be looking to push both FaceTime and iMessage to Android as well, which should help it bring a larger user base on board. So far Apple Music, its music streaming service is the only one to make it out of the iOS and macOS ecosystem. The app allows Android users to access the iTunes library, stream and download music to supported devices.
