Apple Developer Center completely online now

After weeks of major outage, all of Apple’s developer tools are now up and running on the website. Apple had taken the developer website offline in late July owing to an unauthorised access that could have possibly exposed the data of hundreds of developers.

The Cupertino company had managed to put most of its services live early last week and had claimed that it would be restoring the rest of them within a week’s time. Apple seems to have stuck true to its promise since as of Monday, all the services seem to be online. The process took about three weeks in its entirety to be completed. It started after a huge eight day outage that threw developers into a tizzy.

Now online

Apple decided to take the website down in late July after admitting that the site was attacked by an intruder. While sensitive personal information was encrypted and safe, it is possible that some names, mailing addresses and email addresses of a few developers could have been compromised.

The company then launched a system status page to inform developers which services were online and which were not during the outage. Apple had also assured developers who were up for renewal during the outage period that their apps would be safe and the renewal put on hold till the system went online completely.

9to5Mac has reported that now that system is online, existing members have an additional month of access added to their accounts to compensate for the downtime. While the service is not directly associated with customer information, it was of vital importance to both OS X and iOS developers, who needed tools from the website to test their applications and software.
