Andy Rubin, the creator of Android plans to announce a mysterious smartphone. The smartphone will be announced by a start-up known as ‘Essential’ that recently joined Twitter. Rubin tweeted saying that he is ready to share whatever he is working on. So far, both Rubin, as well as Essential, have been tight-lipped about what they are working on. This comes months after Andy gave a glimpse of an upcoming bezel-less smartphone.
The Twitter handle of Essential tweeted out a teaser image of the new upcoming smartphone. According to previous reports, the smartphone is expected to be modular in nature. The teaser does not give any details except a weird bump on the top of the camera that looks like a 360-degree camera attachment of add-on. We can only speculate at the time of writing.
We are not sure about the specifications of the upcoming smartphone but we can expect the smartphone to come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in addition with a 5.5-inch QHD display, 4 GB RAM and 12 MP rear camera. In January, Andy Rubin was said to have been working on a high-end, modular, Android smartphone that focussed on artificial intelligence.
The interesting part is that we are not even sure if the smartphone will run Android or a new mobile operating system. Though the teaser gave us a hint of the interface that looked almost like Android. Other rumours suggest that the phone will support a pressure-sensitive display, like the iPhone, and will feature an industrial design with metal edges and a ceramic back. It will also feature a proprietary connector, which will charge the device and could be used for expanding the phone’s future functionality, like adding modules.
