Android Marshmallow on more than 10 percent devices within 8 months

Going by the latest numbers revealing adoption of Android's Marshmallow, it is now installed on more than 10 percent of the overall devices. While we finally have Marshmallow adoption in double digits, it should be noted that the latest iteration was on mere 1 percent devices even after four months of its launch. This means, phone makers have given a big push to this update in the past four months.A quick look at the charts below shows that Marshmallow share was only 4.6 percent till April, which jumped to 7.5 percent in May and finally has reached 10.1 percent in June. These numbers surpass older Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread finally. It is nice to see the quicker adoption, but we hope it maintains the pace. Especially considering, Android upcoming iteration - Android N - isn't far away.This isn't something new as far as Android's latest OS adoption is concerned. We've seen in the past too, the latest versions taking almost a year to get to devices.Going by the figures, Lollipop dominates the space, followed by KitKat and JellyBean. Froyo and Gingerbread still run on 1 percent and 2 percent devices respectively.
