Amazon Prime membership will now cost you more; to be priced at Rs 999 starting 31 October

Amazon launched its annual subscription-based Amazon Prime service back in July 2016 at an 'introductory' price of Rs 499 for its Indian users.

Image: Reuters[/caption]For the uninitiated, Amazon Prime is a paid subscription service that Amazon.com provides to its customers allowing access to a number of paid benefits. These benefits include free including faster shipping and access to Amazon Video and Music streaming services.Users waiting to get a Prime subscription will have to hurry up as the new prices will increase to Rs 999 for a year from the said date. Amazon had mentioned at the launch of the service about the normal rate of subscription but decided to leave the introductory price running for over a year along with an initial free 60-day trial.The Prime subscription also includes discounts on same day delivery in certain cities as well as 30-min early access to Amazon Lightning deals.The perks do not end there. Amazon Prime subscribers also get access to Prime Video, Amazon's video-streaming service. The service lets subscribers stream TV shows and movies – both Indian and international including the Amazon Original Series as well. The Amazon Prime Video application is available for download across most popular platforms including Android, iOS, Chrome OS and TV OS.
