Amazon debuts storyboarding app for aspiring writers and film-makers

Amazon Studios has launched a fun, new tool for aspiring film-makers and writers that turns their movie scripts into storyboards. The tool is currently in beta and storyboards come complete with characters and dialogues.

To use the tool, you need to upload a script onto Amazon Studios. The tool will go on to identify scenes, locations and characters through the script you’ve written. Amazon Studios then “casts” from a library of props, backgrounds and characters to suit your movie script.

Of course, you can go on to make changes to the storyboard by replacing these characters as well as uploading your own images to suit it better. Film-makers can concentrate on using pan and zoom, change facial expressions and positions of characters, adding props, captions and more while the tool does the job of setting the basic scene for them.

Once you’re done with making changes and satisfied with your storyboard, you can save your project on Amazon Studios and publish it. You can then pass the project on to friends and peers for them to view and critique.

Amazon Storyteller is a part of Amazon Studios, which was launched back in 2011 to help film-makers and writers with a platform that turns scripts into original series. You need to upload scripts onto the site to have peers give you feedback. Last week, Amazon Studios gave a green signal to a few original series, Alpha House and Betas, and kid’s series Annebots, Creative Galaxy and Tumbleaf.

The Amazon Storyteller tool, currently in beta, is free to use right now and is available at amazonstudios.com/storyteller.
