Airtel Digital TV Announces Hindi Interactive Service, iKisaan
The service is targeted at the rural population residing in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand.


Airtel launches new service for rural India
Airtel claims that with the launch of iKisaan, customers in these states can get real time access to crop prices, prevalent agri-input prices of seeds, pesticides, weather information and localized farming advisory all in Hindi which is specific to their district.
Speaking at the launch of this service, Ajai Puri Director and CEO of Airtel digital TV said that Airtel has always been at the forefront in understanding the customer's needs and using technology to deliver offerings that enable their lifestyles. iKisaan is a pioneering initiative for rural India, which reiterates their commitment to offering innovative services that cuts across different customer preferences. With over 60 percent of their clientele coming in from rural areas, applications like these will create a stronger connect with their customers.
The service will be available to all the Airtel digital TV customers at no additional cost for the first month from launch. To activate this service one can press iTV on their universal remote, select iKisaan, choose their state and district and the intuitive interface needs just a one-time entry of the user’s location. Prices are a reflection of the 3 nearest mandis in any area.
