After Jelly Bean, it may be Android Key Lime Pie

We’ve already heard about Jelly Bean rumours and that it’s supposed launch in the second quarter of 2012. Now, we’ve got some news about the version that is supposed to come after Jelly Bean. According to the Verge, the name of the version after Jelly Bean is going to be Key Lime Pie. The site had received this information from a very ‘reliable source’ that mentioned that Key Lime Pie was indeed going to be Google’s next operating system, after Jelly Bean. That same source had correctly leaked the name Jelly Bean as well, so there could be a substantial amount of truth to this rumour. Obviously, things are quite under the wraps about Jelly Bean as well, so we’re not going to know much about what Key Lime Pie is going to bring to Android users.

Jelly Bean is coming soon, and it’s coming in 2012 bringing in some new updates. With Key Lime Pie, we might just see something new in store in 2012, perhaps. Here’s a quick look at the history of Google’s past versions of its mobile operating system. Android 1.0 had no real version name. Cupcake was the one that followed suit with Donut being the name of the one after that. Android 2.1 was called Éclair, while 2.2 came to be known as Froyo. The most popular one being Android 2.3 Gingerbread. After that, Google came up with a tablet centric version of Android, called Honeycomb, which didn’t really appeal too much to masses and following that we have the much anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update – something that is in the process of being rolled out soon enough to a wide variety of tablet and phone users. Android 5.0 is most probably going to be Jelly Bean with the next one (Android 6.0?) being Key Lime Pie.

We’d love to see some Indian names out there as well. Thinking about it, imagine Android 7.0 named as Barfi or Rasgulla! Well, as of now we’re quite happy with Key Lime Pie. What do you guys think – Key Lime Pie? Or why, Google why!?
