Indian-origin podcaster Jay Shetty signs $100 million Spotify-Netflix deal for 'On Purpose' podcast
Jay Shetty has reportedly signed a multi-year deal worth up to $100 million with Spotify and Netflix for the exclusive video version of his podcast 'On Purpose'

Popular self-help podcaster Jay Shetty has signed a new deal with Spotify and Netflix to exclusively feature a video version of his show "On Purpose." Shetty’s deal is reportedly worth as much as $100 million and will span multiple years. The agreement elevates the podcaster into the top tier of the industry, alongside major names such as Joe Rogan and Alex Cooper.
“On Purpose,” Shetty’s podcast, will move to the new services on July 13. As part of the arrangement, Spotify will handle advertising sales for the podcast. Older episodes and snippets of upcoming episodes will continue to be available on YouTube.
The show features conversations between host Jay Shetty, a bestselling author and former monk and influential personalities. The Podcast features discussions on topics such as wellness, culture, relationships, and personal growth. Under the new partnership, the podcast’s video version will also become available to Netflix audiences worldwide, expanding the show’s global reach.
The podcast features Jay Shetty’s in-depth conversations with high-profile guests including Michelle Obama and experts such as Mel Robbins. Since launching seven years ago, the podcast has grown into one of the world’s most popular shows, recording more than one billion listens. Beginning in July, viewers will also be able to stream the conversations on Netflix.
The agreement is one of the first major deals struck by Netflix and Spotify since the streaming platforms announced a joint video podcast venture last year. As part of the arrangement, Netflix will air video episodes of some of Spotify’s biggest podcasts, while the shows will continue to be available in audio format on Spotify.
Shetty is among a select group of podcasters to secure a nine-figure exclusivity deal with a major streaming platform. Before him, Joe Rogan, one of the world’s most popular podcasters, signed an exclusive deal with Spotify in 2020. The agreement was initially reported to be worth $100 million, though later reports suggested its value was closer to $200 million. Rogan later renewed the partnership in 2024 through a new agreement reportedly worth $250 million.
In 2024, SiriusXM struck a $125 million deal with “Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper, along with a separate $100 million agreement for “SmartLess,” hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce also signed a $100 million deal for their “New Heights” podcast with Amazon’s Wondery in 2024.
