Counter Strike: Global Offensive's iconic AK-47 and M4A1 receive an accuracy buff

Valve is reworking the weapon accuracy models for Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The first batch of weapons being reworked include the AK-47, M4A1-S and M4A4.

Valve is reworking the weapon accuracy models for Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The first batch of weapons being reworked include the AK-47, M4A1-S and M4A4.Primarily, the parameter being worked on is Accuracy Recovery Rate, or the rate at which weapon accuracy returns to its baseline value. The idea is that different styles of firing weapons will have a different impact on accuracy. The style most significantly affected will be the burst fire or tapping, which will become more accurate.[caption id="attachment_328394" align="aligncenter" width="640"]

Image: Valve Software[/caption]The three reworked weapons will now be fractionally more accurate when burst-firing than they were previously. Judging by the graphs, the changes don’t seem that big. I’m far from beingw a pro player myself, but I’m sure someone sees the benefit from this though.If you remember, Valve had tried to implement a similar update in December last year, but that plan backfired when it was discovered that the system caused burst fire to be less accurate. Valve acknowledges this and say that the current system has been built from scratch and doesn’t sorts out all those issues.These changes are, of course, a work-in-progress and their impact will be monitored. Changes to the firing profiles of other weapons is expected to roll out once a truly workable solution is found.
