iPad Air M4: Top specs and features

The biggest headline is the M4 processor, which Apple claims is “up to 30 percent faster than iPad Air with M3 and up to 2.3x faster than iPad Air with M1.”

The new chip also offers 50 per cent more unified memory, now at 12GB, giving the tablet plenty of headroom for iPadOS 26’s advanced multitasking and AI features.

The iPad Air (2026) also sports Apple’s in-house C1X modem, first introduced in the iPhone Air, now refined for improved cellular performance. The modem is said to be “up to 50 per cent faster while using 30 per cent less energy” compared to the one in the M3 iPad Air, extending battery life for heavy data users.

Rounding out Apple’s silicon trifecta is the new N1 wireless chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity. Apple says the N1 chip “brings better performance when connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi networks and improves the reliability of features like Personal Hotspot and AirDrop.”

Both models feature Liquid Retina IPS displays with 264 ppi pixel density and up to 600 nits of peak brightness, ensuring vibrant visuals whether you’re watching, designing, or gaming.

With the M4 chip’s AI smarts, cutting-edge connectivity, and sleek build, the iPad Air (2026) blurs the line between a powerful tablet and a true productivity machine.
