World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who is just 22 years old, is on the verge of creating history. If he wins today, Alcaraz will become the youngest player ever to complete a career Grand Slam, breaking the record previously held by Rafael Nadal. The Australian Open is the only Grand Slam title missing from Alcaraz’s collection so far.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic, a man who has made Melbourne his personal fortress over the years, is standing in Alcaraz's way. The Serbian is chasing his 11th Australian Open title and a record-extending 25th Grand Slam, which would take him past Margaret Court’s all-time tally.

Djokovic is also aiming to become the oldest men’s singles Grand Slam champion in Open Era history at the age of 38. If he wins, he would surpass the long-standing record set by Ken Rosewall. The Serbian last won the Australian Open in 2023 when he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in a three-set final.

Both players had to dig deep in their semi-final matches to reach the title clash. Alcaraz survived a marathon battle against Alexander Zverev, winning a five-hour and 27-minute epic, which turned out to be the longest semi-final match in Australian Open history.

Djokovic, on the other hand, rolled back the years with a vintage performance against defending champion Jannik Sinner. He won the gripping encounter in four hours and nine minutes.
