Jannik Sinner reveals his love for butter chicken and desire to visit India: 'If I'm able to come...'

Jannik Sinner has revealed his favourite Indian dish and also said that he hopes to visit the country in future. The top-ranked men's player in the world made this remark after defeating Cameron Norrie in the Round of 16 of the ongoing Madrid Open.

Sinner cruised through to the quarterfinals against Norrie, securing a 6-2, 7-5 victory to extend his winning streak to 20 matches. After the match, at the press conference, Sinner was reminded that he had expressed his wish to visit India even in 2024 but was yet to come to the country.

Sinner wishes to visit India in future

"I don't remember the promise," a grinning Sinner said when he was told about his 2024 statement.

"You had amazing players and hopefully they are gonna come up in the future. I’m not sure if I'm able to come, but I would love to. It is the part of the world I have never been to and I would like to visit one day. I have a great relationship with Indian players. It is nice, back in the days, we had some great players coming from there," Sinner said.

When asked about his favourite Indian dish, he stated without hesitation: "Butter chicken. That's something I enjoy."

Djokovic's India visit wish

Recently at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, the 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic too had said that he will be visiting India "very soon".

"My message would also be: ‘See you very soon in India,’ because I need to go there. I’ve been feeling a calling to visit for the last couple of years. I really hope that I’ll be able to come to India to host an event, play a match, or whatever it may be. I really wish for that because I feel very close to the Indian people,” Djokovic stated.

The Serb superstar had said that he wanted to meet his friend Virat Kohli and both of them could do something together in India.

“Yes, Virat is a friend and someone I, of course, respect and admire. He’s actually, to be honest, the reason why I started following cricket. I hadn’t followed it before, but through him, I started following it more. We keep in touch, and hopefully, when I come, I don’t want to say if, but when I come to India, hopefully he can join me."
