Pakistan hockey player celebrates like winning after scoring controversial goal but its India who win: Watch

India defeated Pakistan 5-3 in a high-voltage semi-final of the U18 Men's Asia Cup in Japan's Kakamigahara on Friday, June 5 to secure a place in the final of the competition. It was a hard-earned victory for the Men in Blue who were trailing until the final quarter of the match.

With this victory, India will now face Japan in the final, hoping to win the title. The summit clash will take place on Saturday, June 6.

While India displayed grit and composure to bounce back and beat Pakistan, one of the moments of the match is gaining traction on social media that is not actually about Indian skill.

Pakistan's odd field goal

Both teams had scored a goal each till half-time and were looking to attack further in the third quarter. India took the lead in the 35th minute but Pakistan soon levelled scores. However, they way they did it and the celebrations that followed have gone viral on social media.

Pakistan's Muhammad Farhan Aslam got a free hit just at the corner of the scoring circle but he took the ball back outside the 16-yard arc. As soon as the referee blew the whistle, Aslam quickly dragged the ball forward and scored an impressive field goal.

Indian team did not seem happy with the decision but Pakistani side celebrated wildly. Aslam dropped his stick and punched the air with joy as he roared in celebrations one could easily mistake for being a match-winning goal.

The goal sparked debate on social media with Indian fans largely highlighting the fact that despite the goal, Indian team won the match and progressed to the final.

Ashish Tani Purti shines

Forward Ashish Tani Purti (12') helped India gain lead with a penalty stroke early in the match. Pakistan made it 1-1 in the second quarter before India once again leaped forward with Shahrukh Ali (35') scoring.

Then came the controversial goal from Aslam which levelled scores before Pakistan raced ahead in the 42nd minute via a penalty corner. With their campaign on the line, India launched a furious attack in the final quarter.

Brilliance from Ashish Tani Purti then helped India first level the scores and then take the lead and ultimately the victory. Purti struck thrice through penalty corners in the final quarter to seal the game in India's favour.
