World Cup Group E qualification scenario: How Ivory Coast, Ecuador can qualify for Round of 32
Germany have already qualified for the World Cup Round of 32, but the battle for the remaining qualification spots in Group E remains wide open, with Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador and Curaçao still in contention.

Germany would be the big attraction when the FIFA World Cup returns late Thursday night in India. The four-time World Cup winner, Germany have, however, qualified for the Round of 32 after winning their first two matches against Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) and Curacao.
Germany will take on Ecuador in their final Group E game in New Jersey, but the match is not a complete dead rubber as the South American country still has a chance to qualify for the knockouts.

Of course, Côte d'Ivoire, who defeated Ecuador 1-0 before losing 2-1 to Germany, has an upper hand. Parallely to the Germany match, Côte d'Ivoire will take on Curacao in their final group match at the Philadelphia stadium.
Group E points table
| Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | GF | GA | GD | Points | |
Germany | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 9 | 2 | 7 | 6 |
Côte d'Ivoire | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 3 |
Ecuador | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | -1 | 1 |
Curaçao | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 7 | -6 | 1 |
Germany have already secured qualification for the World Cup Round of 32 after winning both of their opening matches. With six points and a healthy goal difference of +7, they are guaranteed a top-two finish in Group E.
How Ecuador can reach World Cup Round of 32
A win over Ecuador in their final group match would see Germany finish top of the group with a perfect nine points. Even a draw would be enough for the Germans to secure first place and head into the knockout stage as Group E winners.
The only way Germany can lose top spot is if they are beaten by Ecuador and Côte d'Ivoire defeat Curaçao in the other group match. In that scenario, both Germany and Côte d'Ivoire would finish on six points, with first place decided by goal difference.
For Ecuador, a win over Germany would take them to four points and give them a strong chance of reaching the Round of 32. However, their final position would also depend on the result of the Côte d'Ivoire-Curaçao match. If Côte d'Ivoire avoid defeat, Ecuador would likely have to settle for third place and hope to advance as one of the best third-placed teams.
Côte d'Ivoire are currently in a strong position with three points. A win over Curaçao would guarantee their place in the Round of 32 and could even see them finish top of the group if Germany lose. A draw would also leave them well placed to progress.
Curaçao face the toughest task. They need to beat Côte d'Ivoire and hope Germany avoid defeat against Ecuador to keep their qualification hopes alive.
As things stand, Germany are playing primarily for first place, while the battle for the other qualification spots remains wide open between Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador and Curaçao.
