Magnus Carlsen returns to classical action at TePe Sigeman

Magnus Carlsen will face significant competition during the TePe Sigeman Chess tournament, as he will face Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdusattorov (winner of the Tata Steel masters and Prague Masters 2026), India's Arjun Erigaisi, and the Netherlands' Jorden van Foreest. The tournament also features Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus from Turkey, Nils Grandelius from Sweden, Andy Woodward from the US and Zhu Jiner from China.

The TePe Sigeman Chess tournament is a classical round-robin competition featuring eight players. It has a 90-minute time control for the first 40 minutes, followed by an additional 30 minutes to wrap up the game, with a 30-second per move from move one.

Players will also adhere to the Malmö rules, which are restrictions to prevent early draws in classical chess. Players are not allowed to agree to a draw before Black's 40th move.
