PV Sindhu returns home after being stranded in Dubai amid West Asia tensions: 'I’m truly grateful to be back'
PV Sindhu was left stranded in Dubai as conflict raged in West Asia. However, the star shuttler has now returned to her home in Bengaluru.
Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has returned to her home in Bengaluru, the two-time Olympic medallist informed on Tuesday, March 3. Sindhu was stranded in Dubai as tensions rose in the Gulf region due to the conflict between US-Israel and Iran.
The former World Champion was supposed to travel to Birmingham for the All England Championships. However, as the war broke out, the airspace over Gulf region was shut down leading to passengers getting stranded across the region.
Sindhu to miss All England
The 30-year-old informed on X that she was back at her home in Bengaluru after an intense few days in Dubai.
"Back home in Bangalore and safe. The last few days have been intense and uncertain, but I’m truly grateful to be back to my house. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible ground teams, Dubai authorities, airport staff, immigration, and every single person who stepped up and took such good care of us during a very difficult time.

Due to the delay, Sindhu will now be missing the prestigious tournament in Birmingham. The Indian star was scheduled to face Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the opening round of the tournament that begins March 3.
Sindhu had said that her team had "extremely tense and scary moment" during her stay in Dubai amid the conflict. She has also said that her Indonesian coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama was just meters away from a blast.
“My coach was barely about 100m away from where it (explosion) happened and had to quickly move out of the area. Experiencing something like this from such close quarters truly shakes you," the star shuttler had said.
The Gulf region is experiencing turmoil after US and Israel combined to launch air strikes in Iran which responded by striking American bases in multiple countries in the area.
