Our favourite Aussie dish: Masterchef 2014 winner Brent Owens on Medu vada, beef ban and more
Brent Owens talks about what life is like behind the scenes at Masterchef, what he would do to recreate a classic Indian dish, and also what happened to the top knot!

Brent Owens, who won Masterchef Australia 2014, really needs no introduction to anyone who has been an avid follower of the reality cooking show that everyone loves to love. No one really gave the Bobcat driver with the top knot much of a chance at the beginning of the competition, but he just kept improving, and by the end of the competition was not only a favourite to win, but had some serious plating skills.
Firstpost caught up with Owens while he was in India to promote season 7 of the cooking show in the country. We talked a bit about what life is like behind the scenes at Masterchef, what he would do to recreate a classic Indian dish, and also what happened to the top knot! Check out his responses below:What happened to that top knot, Brent?"It's gone!"How would you recreate a classic Indian dish?"What's that lentil thing that looks like a Donut?"How would you do on an all Veg Masterchef like Masterchef India?"Cauliflower 30 ways"Does a beef ban - like the one in Maharashtra - impede a chef's creativity? "I'm all for it, it's great"What Indian food do you cook at home? "Dal."What is it like behind the scenes at Masterchef Australia?"It's full on!"Was there an equivalent to the Ben-Andy Bromance on your show?"There was me and Nick, but he didn't last!"Do you miss being a Bobcat driver?"No."Disclaimer: Masterchef Australia is aired on Star World, which competes with some television channels owned by Network 18, which also owns Firstpost
