Movie mania: Monroe, Chaplin costumes up for grabs

Peter Morgan/Reuters"][/caption]Monroe's iconic white dress from 'The Seven Year Itch' and Charlie Chaplin's bowler hat from 'The Tramp' and Julie Andrews' clothes from 'The Sound of Music' are among 3,500 items to be auctioned off from a collection owned by Debbie Reynolds, reported Contactmusic.Streisand's sleeveless gold velvet gown from 'Hello, Dolly', thought to be the most expensive dress ever made for a movie, is also expected to attract a great deal of interest from buyers at the June 18 auction in Beverly Hills along with Hepburn's Ascot dress from 'My Fair Lady'.'Singin in the Rain' star Debbie, the daughter of actress Carrie Fisher, has amassed an incredible array of movie memorabilia over 50 years, but decided to sell off her treasures after a deal to house them in a museum fell through. "I'm heartbroken. I don't want to see the collection broken up. It should stay intact. It's a real shame, but that's the way it's going to be," she said.The collection will go on view to the public in Beverly Hills in early June.PTI
