On the morning of July 6th, a white Schiaparelli gown walked the runway at Paris Haute Couture Week. By that evening, it was on Zendaya at the world premiere of The Odyssey in London. Law Roach documented the logistics on Instagram, filmed backstage by fashion content creator Lyas: "I flew in last night to come to the show. I have a private jet waiting for me, and for her. To get that dress off of her, to get it to London, to put it on a very special girl."

The dress — from Schiaparelli's Fall 2026 couture collection 'The Abyss', designed by Daniel Roseberry — features a white porcelain bodice with a sculptural nude silhouette and plunging waistline, falling into a long ombré skirt covered in dangling beads, with built-in lighting embedded into the construction. On the red carpet at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, it cast an actual glow.

Speaking to press at the event, Zendaya said the look was meant to feel statuesque as a reference to the sculptural depictions of Athena, the goddess she plays in Christopher Nolan's film. Roach completed it with pale gold Christian Louboutin pumps, a layered diamond necklace, matching stud earrings, a Grecian-inspired braid, white eyeshadow, and a jet-black manicure.

Model Ivy Stewart had worn the same piece on the runway hours earlier. This is not the first time Zendaya has moved this fast on a new collection (she left a Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 show in New York recently in an outfit that had walked minutes before her), but the Paris to London flying-out element makes this particular turnaround its own category.

The evening's second look

After the red carpet, Zendaya changed into a piece from Valentino's Fall 2026 collection — a cropped green floral bodice connected to a draped grey skirt by Alessandro Michele, finished with dangling diamond drop earrings and grey leather pumps. She wore it through the rest of the evening, alongside co-stars Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, and Anne Hathaway.

The larger picture

The London premiere is the latest in a press tour that has been working a consistent visual language since it opened in Tribeca — an ivory Khaite satin-silk midi with a belted peplos silhouette, gold gladiator sandals, then 3,000-year-old Glenn Spiro earrings at the London photocall. Ancient Greece, filtered through contemporary and archival pieces, nothing crossing into costume.

The Schiaparelli is the most explicit version of that brief so far: a dress with lighting built into it, worn to evoke a statue. Whether that reads as the collection's peak or its befitting midpoint is a question the next eleven days will answer.
