Andhra Pradesh is preparing to become India's first AI-powered tourism state, introducing artificial intelligence to help visitors explore more than 100 tourist and pilgrimage destinations over the next three years.

Through a partnership between the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) and Explurger's NiVU AI platform, travellers will be able to access multilingual, AI-driven assistance by simply scanning QR codes at participating attractions.

What exactly is Andhra Pradesh planning?

Under the agreement announced this week, NiVU AI will gradually be deployed across more than 100 tourist and pilgrimage destinations throughout Andhra Pradesh. The rollout will begin with approximately 30 locations in the first year before expanding over the following three years.

Visitors will simply scan QR codes placed at participating attractions.

Without downloading an app or paying a fee, they will be able to interact with an AI assistant through text or voice in more than 130 languages, receiving information tailored to the location they are visiting.

The platform is designed to answer questions ranging from monument history and local legends to nearby attractions, regional cuisine and suggested itineraries.

If successful, this could make exploring lesser-known destinations significantly easier for both domestic and international travellers.
