Police identified the deceased as Vaishnavi Aware and the accused as 26-year-old Sahil Lavhare, both from Amravati. Investigators said the duo had earlier lived together, but Aware had ended the relationship and recently relocated to Nashik. She had been staying in a paying guest accommodation in Indiranagar while looking for employment.

Dispute ended in fatal attack

According to investigators, the two met on Friday night when an argument broke out between them.

“It turned violent when Lavhare attacked her with a knife. As Aware cried out for help, he slit her throat before fleeing the spot on a motorcycle,” an officer said.

People living nearby alerted emergency services after hearing her cries. She was taken to Nashik Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Accused located during overnight search

Police teams, led by assistant commissioner of police (Ambad division) Sachin Bari and senior inspector Manohar Karande of the Indiranagar police, launched a search for Lavhare soon after the attack.

“During the early hours of Saturday, we found Lavhare hanging from a tree at the Indiranagar jogging track. Preliminary investigations indicate that he died by suicide,” the officer said.

Police said Aware was engaged to a man from Jalgaon who worked in Nashik. She had reportedly told her fiance that Lavhare had been harassing her and had informed him that the accused was due to meet her on the night of the incident.
