Vivek Tiwari murder: SIT files chargesheet against two Uttar Pradesh cops for murder of Apple executive

Prashant Chowdhary was charged under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder and Sandeep Kumar under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). The SIT also dismissed Chaudhary's statement that he opened fire in 'self-defence' after Tiwari tried to run him over in an attempt to flee.

The SIT on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in the murder of Apple executive Vivek Tiwari in Lucknow. The chargesheet was filed against Prashant Chowdhary, the policeman who allegedly shot Tiwari and Sandeep Kumar, another policeman who was present at the scene.[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="380"]

He was on his way to drop colleague Sana Khan home when the chase began. Kumar is believed to have tried to stop the car by using his cane on the vehicle. The two constables were later arrested and dismissed from duty.On 2 October, the postmortem report of Tiwari revealed that he died due to a gunshot injury on the left side of his chin. During the preliminary investigation, the cop who allegedly shot the Apple executive claimed that he fired at his car in self-defence as it tried to run over his motorbike.With inputs from agencies
