Toxic gas leak at Ludhiana factory kills three workers, several injured

At least three workers were killed and several others injured after a suspected toxic gas leak at a wrench and spanner manufacturing factory in Punjab's Ludhiana district on Monday.

The incident triggered panic among workers as the gas spread rapidly through the factory premises, forcing emergency rescue operations.

According to a News18 report, work was underway as usual when gas allegedly began leaking from a pipeline or cylinder inside the factory. Within minutes, the gas spread across the premises, causing breathing difficulties, severe eye irritation and suffocation among workers.

Several employees reportedly collapsed unconscious at the site.

Police, fire brigade and health department teams rushed to the factory soon after receiving information about the incident. Rescue personnel evacuated affected workers and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. According to the report, some of the injured workers remain in critical condition.

Authorities have evacuated the factory premises as a precautionary measure while emergency teams continue to assess the situation. Officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the leak.

Officials said that the actual cause of the incident will be established only after the inquiry is completed and the investigation report is submitted.
