Reuters[/caption]Special Secretary (Home) GL Meena announced that the order to appoint Prasad was issued by the government.Though the official statement did not specify the reason behind Gupta's removal, the sources IANS talked to attributed the government decision to his face-off with a section in the government administration.Meanwhile, Alok Verma, a 1979 batch IPS officer, also joined as director general of Tihar.Verma was earlier posted as special commissioner of police (administration) and took over from Vimla Mehra, who was shifted 17 July by the home ministry.Mehra had taken charge in August 2012.IANS
