Noida: Three idols at a temple in Greater Noida were found disfigured on Monday, prompting the local police to launch a probe, officials said.
The temple is located in Sector 37 of the area and it is suspected that a mentally-challenged local resident had thrown stones at the idols, the officials said.
An office-bearer of the local resident welfare association (RWA) has filed a written complaint with the police, alleging that the matter was brought to notice around 12.30 pm.
"The temple is under a tree and not surrounded by any walls or other structures," the complainant said.
On the basis of the complaint, an FIR is being lodged and further investigating is underway, a senior police officer said.
There was no law and order situation due to the incident, the officer added.
