Tata Motors to supply, operate 200 electric buses in Srinagar, Jammu for 12 yrs

Tata Motors will supply and operate 200 electric buses in Srinagar and Jammu for 12 years for Jammu and Srinagar Smart City projects, the company said in a statement issued on Thursday.The company has supplied the first batch of Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Srinagar Smart City Ltd, via TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, a group company, it said."The delivery of the electric buses is part of its larger order to supply, maintain and operate 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 electric buses in Jammu, for 12 years for Jammu and Srinagar Smart City projects," it added.On Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the Srinagar Smart City’s 100 electric buses and said it is a big leap to achieve carbon neutrality.Sinha launched the electric buses under the Srinagar Electric Bus Project and flagged off a fleet of 75 e-buses at Nishat Bus Terminal, an official spokesperson said.The e-buses will be plying on 15 intra-city and two inter-city routes and will be running a minimum of 200 km per day from 8 am to 8 pm, the spokesperson said.The e-buses are equipped with Universal Access and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, an on-board vehicle tracking system, CCTV and an emergency stop facility.With PTI inputs.
