Police probing lawyer's allegations that Maneka Gandhi slapped him

However, Gandhi's representative, Ashvini Agarwal, said that there is no truth in the complaint and neither the minister nor he was aware of anyone by that name.

Pilibhit: Police have been asked to probe complaint of a lawyer who has alleged that Union minister and local MP, Maneka Gandhi, today slapped him.

DK Verma, a resident of Barkehda area, complained that some BJP workers arrived at his house here this morning and forcibly took him to the Union minister at her camp office in Shanker Salvent Bhawan on Bisalpur road, Superintendent of Police Sonia Singh said.

"She (Gandhi) slapped me without citing any reason," Verma said.

However, representative of the Union minister, Ashvini Agarwal, said that there is no truth in the complaint and neither the minister nor he was aware of anyone by that name.

The SP said that Circle Officer, Subeg Singh Siddhu, has been asked to probe the complaint and if required an FIR will be lodged on its basis.
