Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump briefly interacted on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on Tuesday.
Visuals from the summit showed the two leaders exchanging a handshake and engaging in a short conversation as world leaders gathered for the Outreach Session of the G7 Summit.
The interaction came amid discussions on key global issues, including international security, economic cooperation and ongoing geopolitical conflicts.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi joined fellow world leaders for the traditional family photograph at the summit venue.
PM Modi is attending the Outreach Session as a guest leader, where discussions are expected to focus on global challenges and cooperation between developed and emerging economies.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed PM Modi at the G7 summit. This is the seventh consecutive time that PM Modi is participating in the global forum, and overall it marks India's 13th appearance at the summit.
Before arriving in France from Slovakia, PM Modi made a transit stop at Geneva where he held talks with Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation.
Commenting on the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "Both leaders exchanged warm greetings and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen India-Switzerland partnership."
According to an ANI report, PM Modi is scheduled to participate in a working session titled, "Forging New Partnerships And Rebuilding International Solidarity," where discussions are expected to be centred on international cooperation, sustainable development and key global economic challenges.
