PM Modi to visit France, Slovakia with focus on economic ties and innovation partnerships
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to France and Slovakia for bilateral and multilateral engagements aimed at strengthening economic and cultural cooperation, with innovation featuring prominently on the agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit France and Slovakia from June 13 to 18, during which he will participate in a range of bilateral and multilateral engagements and interact with members of the Indian diaspora. The visit is aimed at further strengthening economic cooperation and deepening cultural ties with the two countries.
Sharing details of the visit, PM Modi said the first leg of the tour will take place in Nice, France, where he will attend several programmes, including ‘Bharat Innovates’. French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to be present at the event.
The ‘Bharat Innovates’ programme is being held as India and France mark the ‘India-France Year of Innovation'. The PM noted that the event will serve as a platform bringing together innovators, start-ups and stakeholders associated with the innovation ecosystem.
The initiative is expected to showcase collaboration and exchange between participants from both countries in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Bilateral talks with President Macron
During his stay in Nice, PM Modi will also hold talks with President Macron. The discussions are expected to include a review of the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership.
After concluding engagements in Nice, the prime minister will travel to the Slovak Republic for a state visit from 14 to 15 June 2026. The visit will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister since Slovakia gained independence in 1993 and is expected to build on the growing momentum in bilateral ties. During his stay in Bratislava, PM Modi is scheduled to hold talks with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico while also engaging with Slovak business leaders.
The visit is expected to further strengthen India's Strategic Partnership with the European Union, of which Slovakia is an important member, and build on the momentum generated by the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
From Slovakia, the Prime Minister will travel to Evian to participate in the G7 Summit on June 16 and 17.
The final leg of PM Modi’s visit will take him to Paris on June 18, where he is scheduled to attend VivaTech 2026 alongside the French President. Recognised as one of Europe’s premier technology and innovation events, this year’s edition will feature India’s largest-ever national pavilion, highlighting the growing synergy between Indian and European innovation ecosystems.
