'Steadfast to defeat terrorism, its ecosystem': PM Modi marks Op Sindoor anniversary, changes profile picture
One year after India launched precision strikes against terror launchpads in Pakistan, the country’s top leadership has changed their social media presence into a unified tribute to the armed forces

Marking the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his senior Cabinet ministers have changed their profile pictures on X (formerly Twitter) to a unified logo commemorating the historic military operation.
“We remain steadfast in our resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem,” PM Modi wrote on X.
The coordinated move, which began on Thursday, includes high-profile figures such as Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to name a few. The logo features an Indian tricolour shield integrated with a saffron-hued flame, symbolising the "resolve and sacrifice" of the Indian Armed Forces.
Commemorating a 'golden chapter'
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, orchestrated by Pakistan-backed militants identified as members of The Resistance Front (TRF) "Falcon Squad."
Survivors of the attack recounted scenes where militants checked the identities and religious affiliations of the tourists before opening fire. The massacre claimed the lives of 26 civilians, primarily Hindu tourists and local workers, in what Indian intelligence described as a calculated attempt to incite communal discord and "divide India from within."
India's subsequent multi-domain offensive targeted nine major terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including bases belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The operation also fundamentally altered India’s national security doctrine. By using advanced AI, drone technology, and precision-guided munitions, India went several miles ahead of traditional border control.

Additionally, the operation showcased India’s defence muscle. Since the strikes, Indian defence exports have surged by over 60 per cent, with global interest growing in indigenous systems like the BrahMos missile and Akash air defence platforms, which were used during the four-day conflict.
The profile picture change was quickly followed by thousands of supporters and BJP party members, who adopted the same logo.
