Mumbai: 18 dead in stampede ahead of Muslim leader's funeral
At least 18 people have been killed and over 60 injured after a stampede outside the residence of Bohra Muslim leader Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, whose funeral was to be conducted on Saturday.

PTI[/caption]The incident occurred after 1 am in the Malabar Hill areawhere an overwhelming crowd had gathered to pay last respect to the departed spiritual leader of Dawoodi Bohra community, Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, a civic official told PTI.The injured were rushed to Saifi Hospital where they are currently being treated.The 52nd Dai al-Mutlaq of the world-wide Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin expired on Friday at the age of 102 at his Mumbai residence at Saifee Mahal. The cause of death was a cardiac arrest.The Bohra community is a 12-lakh strong community in Mumbai. The funeral is expected to be conducted today where better police arrangments are expected to be put in place.
