'Mind your language': Indian women call out Bangladeshi waiter in Italy for alleged anti-India remarks

What began as an ordinary meal during a trip to Italy quickly turned into a tense confrontation for a group of Indian women after a Bangladeshi waiter allegedly made offensive remarks about India and Indian customers. A video of the exchange, posted on Instagram by user Khushi Dubey, has since gone viral, with many online praising the travellers for standing their ground.

The circumstances that led to the altercation remain unclear.

In the video, the waiter, identified as Hossain, is seen repeatedly using the "F-word" and allegedly referring to the women as being from "f***ing India".

"F**k off you, call the police, I'm out of here," the man said.

One of the women responded, "You know what? Mind your language. We are ladies first of all, okay?"

As the exchange intensified, the waiter allegedly made further remarks directed at the women's nationality.

"Everybody carrying this country badly, you carry country badly," the man said. "You are from the f***ing India.”

One of the women replied, "Mr Hossain, be respectful. You should know how to respect women."

Police intervene as travellers demand apology

The confrontation continued until two police officers arrived at the scene. According to Dubey, the group felt relieved and grateful for the intervention.

The waiter subsequently attempted to apologise, but the women insisted that he acknowledge making offensive remarks about India and apologise properly.

"No, sir, please say, I'm sorry for abusing India," one of the women said as the waiter appeared to avoid admitting his comments.

"You have to say that. You only said that 'I will call the police,'" she added.

Sharing the video, Dubey said Indians are often unfairly blamed for incidents abroad and argued that discrimination is sometimes directed at them instead.

"Every time it's not Indians who are at fault, sometimes, it is people who discriminate us. Always have respect for your country. Jai Hind," Dubey wrote.
