Police have launched an investigation after a Hyderabad businessman and his wife went missing nearly three weeks after leaving for a holiday in Switzerland, while also looking into allegations that the couple raised around Rs 50 crore from dozens of investors.
The missing couple have been identified as 51-year-old businessman Pabba Chandrasekhar and his 42-year-old wife, Swapna. According to their daughter, Shreya, they travelled to Switzerland on June 22 and remained in regular contact with the family during the early part of their trip.
However, communication abruptly stopped after July 8. Despite repeated attempts by family members to reach them, their mobile phones were either switched off or out of network coverage.
After several days without any contact, their 23-year-old daughter, a software professional, approached the police, following which a missing persons case was registered.
Investigators are now examining the couple's travel itinerary, immigration records and financial transactions to determine their whereabouts. Police are also trying to verify whether the couple entered Switzerland as planned.
The investigation has also expanded to include allegations that Chandrasekhar and Swapna collected nearly Rs 50 crore from more than 60 investors over the past few years.
According to the allegations, the couple raised funds by promising attractive returns while citing various personal and business requirements. However, police have not registered any cheating case against them so far.
Officials said the missing persons investigation is continuing and that all possibilities are being explored, including whether the couple disappeared voluntarily and whether there is any link to alleged financial irregularities.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the couple's movements or current whereabouts to come forward.
