Heavy fog in Delhi delays 134 flights, 22 trains; low visibility to prevail in NCR, North India till New Year's

As many as 134 flights were delayed at the Delhi airport and more than 22 trains were running late due to fog in the national capital.Train and flight passengers continued to face inconvenience on Thursday due to a dense layer of fog engulfing Delhi as cold wave gripped the city.Fog in Delhi cancels 134 flightsWith more people travelling due to festivities, operation of approximately 134 domestic and international flights, both arrival and departure, were delayed on 28 December, 2023.While 35 international flight departures got delayed from Delhi, 28 international arrivals got delayed as well.There was delay in 43 domestic flights departure and arrival of 28 domestic planes.Visuals from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport showed passengers queuing up at the gates amid intense fog.Railways update Delhi: 22 trains running lateAccording to the Indian Railways, at least 22 trains were delayed at the New Delhi Railway Station amid low visibility.Trains including Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani, Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani and Jammu Tawi Rajdhani were running late for more than two hours.Visuals from the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) were also same, with passengers waiting amid severe cold weather.Delhi weather todayAs per the India Meteorological Department, or IMD, the temperature in Delhi Thursday would hit a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius, with the maximum at 22 degrees Celsius.On Wednesday, the weather office issued a dense fog alert for the national capital. "It is to inform to all that Dense fog has already set in over some pockets of Delhi including at IGI Airport Palam since 0830pm today of 27 December, 2023," the IMD said in a post on X."Dense fog warning for Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi: Very dense fog in night and morning hours till 30 December morning and Dense fog on 31 December 2023," the weather office said in another post.With inputs from agencies
