Singh and his gang had 94 police cases — 18 cases of dacoity, 28 kidnapping, 19 of attempt to murder and 17 cases of murder — lodged against them.In 1976, a blood feud ensued between Malkhan and Bilao village sarpanch Kailash Narayan. Malkhan tried to kill Narayan with a machine gun. However, Narayan survived six bullets shots but this forced Malkhan to flee to Jalaun in Uttar Pradesh as he ended up injuring two of Narayan's men and killing one.Later in 1983, Malkhan Singh along with his men surrendered before the then chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Arjun Singh, before a huge crowd of over 30,000 people.
